On this challenge participants agree to send me pictures of all their meals for 7 whole days so I can figure out how to best help them. They don’t have to know or change anything to get started but I could tell right away that this ambitious mom of 5 was already making changes of her own.
On a trip to Chick-fil-a she told me that this meal ( see above) is what she typically orders but that she was proud of ordering the meal (see below) with the Superfood Salad instead. Of course, I was excited that she had made a different choice, but I sensed something was off.
What I realized is that Shauna was choosing really low carb options for most of her meals. She didn’t need to cut down on carbs. What she needed to do was to keep them consistently coming from the right sources throughout the day so that she wouldn’t feel an uncontrollable desire to make up for the loss at night.
After a week of seeing all her meals and her “failures” I could tell she wasn’t getting enough carbs to fuel the lifestyle she REALLY wanted while simuteneously losing the weight she no longer wanted to have.
We’ve been working together for a little over a month and what we found is that her body responds best with more carbs. It makes sense! Being a mom of 5 can be physically and emotionally demanding.
I mean, how cool is it that she gets to eat a meal with her family with cheese, bacon, fruit, bread and ice cream while losing weight?
This is what she said:
It still blows my mind that this is possible and I’ve been doing this for years now!
I am SO excited to see how knowing her nutrition is changing her mindset, her relationship with food, her energy levels, and obviously the number on the scale.
I can’t wait to see what we’ll uncover together.
Much Love, DeeDee
